Join the Practical Caravan team on a cross-channel jaunt to the fabulous Brittany coast

Caravanning holiday expert Eurocamp Independent has put together a reader holiday to France that is guaranteed to tickle your tastebuds and get you hitching up your van.

Just a short hop across the channel, Brittany is renowned for its hospitality and, like much of France, its fabulous food, with seafood a real speciality. Whether you've never ventured across the Channel before, or are a seasoned Francophile, this is a wonderful taste of continental caravanning at its best.
Your base for the week will be Domaine des Ormes, one of the most prestigious campsites in France. This four-star site, part of the Castels group, is set in a vast estate of wooded parkland just outside the market town of Dol-de-Bretagne.
A beautiful château and three lakes complement the converted old farm buildings that house the bar and restaurant. With a driving range, 18-hole golf course and superb indoor and outdoor swimming pools there's plenty on-site to keep you occupied.
And with a variety of organised excursions lined up you're guaranteed a real flavour of this picturesque region of France.

Sunday 31 August - Monday 8 September
There are plenty of activities for you to enjoy during your seven night stay on the Domaine des Ormes campsite:
 • Welcome drinks on the evening of arrival
 • Trip to Cancale Brittany’s oyster capital, on the Emerald Coast. Former fishermen’s cottages on the seafront have been converted into eateries from where you can watch the catch of the day come in.
 • Trip to Dinan Explore its maze of cobbled streets and medieval half-timbered buildings.
 • Trip to Le Mont St Michel The abbey perched on top of a rock attracts millions of visitors every year. The visit includes an evening meal at a restaurant on the mount, where you can try some of the region’s delicacies.
 • Tour of Saint-Malo Explore the walls of this fortified town and its winding streets within. September is the season for grandes marées – the high tides that crash spectacularly against the sea walls.
 • Soirée Bretonne An evening of local specialities at the campsite, with crêpes and cider on offer.
