| The site is right |
Welcome to our new parks section, where we'll be highlighting some of the best caravan sites you can visit. What makes this launch all the more exciting is that these pages are the result of the joint efforts of Practical Caravan‘s staff and readers.
Of course, Britain and the Continent are rich in great destinations for touring holidays. But we all know that the sites where we pitch up play an essential part in how much we enjoy ourselves. That's why our editorial team will be on the lookout for great sites, whether they are award-winners, are in ideal locations or have personalities all their own.
And here's where you come in: we want to include readers' reviews of touring parks in each issue. As with our Top 100 Parks awards, we believe you're the best judges of what makes a great site, so we're inviting you to tell us and other caravanners about the parks you love. What's the magic ingredient that makes your favourite park special? Is it superb service, great value, wonderful facilities, or peace and quiet?

| £50 for your thoughts |
It's easy to get involved: visit our sister website, www.caravansitefinder.co.uk, and follow the instructions to register as a user for free. Then, whenever you want to let other caravanners know about a site, log
on, search for the park you want to review and click on ‘Add a review'.
Be sure to follow the guidelines for review writing so your submission is eligible. The full guidelines are available online, but the basic rules are that you should have visited the park within the past three years, you can only review each site once, and content that's not family-friendly is not allowed.
I'll be reading your reviews and will consider the best for inclusion
in our parks pages. If you have questions, email me at alyson.warnock@haymarket.com or call 020 8267 5000 and ask for me. Sadly, I can't accept reviews that are emailed in, but if you don't have access to
the internet, post your written review. Use the address in the Contact link at the foot of this page.
The first two reader reviews appear on the following pages, and the authors are both £50 richer. Why not join them? Log onto www.caravansitefinder.co.uk today and get reviewing!

| One in 100 |
For my first review, I could think of nowhere better to go than Dornafield.
This family-run site, nestled in the south Devon countryside, took the overall honours in our 2008 Top 100 Parks awards this year, and I've been looking forward to visiting ever since. Turn over the page for my thoughts after a stay in May. Happy ‘vanning. Alyson Warnock

| Snowdonia's Riverside Park gets £4m facelift |
I'll be towing my caravan to Snowdonia later in the year, so
I was interested to hear about the upgrade that Riverside Caravan and Camping Park at Betws-
y-Coed has undergone.
Morris Leisure, which owns Stanmore Hall Touring Park and Oxon Hall Touring Park, acquired the park last year and has spent
£4 million upgrading its on-site shop and the washblocks. The pitches have been given attention too; there are now more than 60, and you can choose between grass, hardstanding or fully serviced pitches.
Riverside reopens on 1 July.
With a list of improvements this long, it should prove popular. If you get there soon, let us know what you think. (Tel 01690 710 310) |
Plan to see the seasons change I love watching the seasons change, and the best place to appreciate the green flush of spring or the russet tones of autumn is in a garden.
So when I came across Enjoy England's pocket guide, 365 Gardens, I snapped it up. This little book lists gardens across England, from Leeds Castle and Gardens in Kent to Craigside House, Gardens and Estate in Northumberland, and in all sizes from seven-acre Henrietta Park near Bath to the 200-acre sprawl of the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
All the information you'll need to visit any of these and more is at your finger tips, including opening times, prices, facilities and contact details. It's a bargain at £5.99. |
