| Seven great days out in
LANCASHIRE |
|
Between Clitheroe and the coast, the "Las Vegas of the North West" sits next
to the only part of the kingdom to which the Queen would consider retiring (Ribble Valley). Not bad, for an
area better known for its industrial history than as a tourist attraction. But the best spots are never the best-known - with the exception, perhaps, of Blackpool itself, which these days offers much more than sticks of rock, naughty postcards, piers and music halls.
In contrast are the wonders of the Lancashire countryside - from the Forest of Bowland to centuries-old villages. You’ll wonder how such riches have remained a well-kept secret for so long (queries should be addressed to Buckingham Palace!).
