There are few sites which typify an area better than this Keswick site. Mountains form the skyline in all directions, and many pitches look directly over Derwent Water. It’s the perfect place to base yourself, both for the scenery and for the opportunities which lie on your doorstep.
The site is neat and tidy but is still kept as nature intended, which provides views that are near perfect. It is a site for those who are looking for peace and quiet and enjoy the great outdoors; if you want
a cabaret and live entertainment, then this is not the site for you.
All the pitches are level and reached by smooth paths. There are two main fields, both sheltered from the elements by woods and the town of Keswick. The site can be breezy if the wind is blowing in from the lake, though, and visitors should be aware of the flood risk. The low-lying location of some pitches, together with their proximity to the lake, can be a problem, but the managers will warn campers if there is even the slightest risk.
Keswick, and its selection of pubs, is nearby, and there is an excellent Booths supermarket just next door. There’s also a petrol station just half a mile up the road.
