GREAT ESCAPES
Great escapes to Jersey

We explore this jewel of the Channel now that it has opened its arms to caravanners
Imagine Cornwall without the crowds and the jam-packed roads. Then add a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ and the charm of a slower pace of life. The place in your mind is Jersey. The recent change in legislation that allows caravans on to the island means the only thing between you and its golden shores is 100 miles of sea.
Caravanners can only visit from March to October, and they are restricted from touring once on the road, but that’s hardly a problem. You can drive around Jersey in a morning, and aside from the many beaches and winding lanes, there are loads of places to visit where you’ll rarely have to queue.
Three sites (reviewed on the following pages) are throwing their gates open to tourers entering the island. They offer a ‘one-stop shop’ where you contact the site and it’ll sort out your ferry.
With a blend of the foreign and the familiar, Jersey is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve been away without ever leaving home.
