Getting there
There are so many ways to get to East Sussex. The most stress-free is probably the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, in the heart of the East Sussex coast; the ferry actually docks at Ouistreham. However, it is within an hour’s drive of most destinations in the region. For example, Moyaux, one of the furthest flung of our stops, is a mere 45 minutes away, and Caen is just 10 to 15 minutes from the port.
If you prefer shorter crossings or just want to see more of France by car, board the Dover-Calais ferry. That will put you over 200 miles from East Sussex - more than three hours’ driving.
If sea travel is not your thing at all, take the Channel Tunnel from Cheriton in Kent to Coquelles, near Calais. Again, this means a longer tow when you reach France.
