This month's travel team and their caravans: Matt Clark, driving our long-term Kia Sorento, towed his Avondale Argente 550-4 to the Camping and Caravanning Club site near Chipping Norton.
Practical Caravan‘s editor Alex Newby used her long-term Honda CR-V 2.2 diesel to tow the Hymer to its pitch at the Camping and Caravanning Club's Chipping Norton site.
The Cotswolds
Exploring the Cotswolds is like going back in time. So many of the villages and towns in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire - as well as neighbouring portions of Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Wiltshire - are so beautifully preserved that you could be forgiven for thinking you had wandered into a bygone era. The region has a rich treasure in the form of its historic buildings, which are set in a broad sweep of countryside. This combination lies at the heart of its abundant charms. What would be amazing in other sections of the country, for example a 300-year-old cottage, are almost commonplace in the Cotswolds. Moreover, this cultural asset has been protected for the benefit not only of the area's residents, but for the nation as
a whole. The way the area has been preserved is a tribute to those who have lived and worked there. It was once made prosperous by the wool trade; farmers and merchants ploughed their money back into creating a built heritage
that is unparalleled in Britain. Current residents of the Cotswolds are as passionate about the place as their forebears. Gardens are well tended and paintwork is fresh on the houses. Traditions, such as the annual Cotswold Olympicks, are maintained, and the past is celebrated more as a living event than as a museum piece.
